Sudan Refugees Going Home With 1.5 Million Cattle

November 30, 2005. Thousands of Dinka cattle herders displaced by Sudan's long north-south civil war are preparing to move as many as 1.5 million cows across the White Nile at a bridge in the southern town of Juba later this week as they finally trek back home, the United Nations said.
The World Food Program plans to assist the children, elderly and sick in the group by providing food assistance and transport up the river by barge as the young men manage the huge herd of livestock, said Simon Crittle, a spokesman for the international food agency.
